A representative of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC took part in the International Ecological Conference AtomEco2015

 

The VIII International Exhibition and Conference AtomEco2015 have opened in Moscow. It is dealing with discussion of implementation of the nuclear industry programs in the field of the radioactive waste (RW) and spent nuclear fuel (SNF) management. Vladimir Chudin, Director for Equipment, participates in the event on behalf of AKKUYU NUCLERA JSC. Oleg Kryukov, Director for Public Policy on Radioactive Waste, Spent Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear Decommissioning, of Rosatom State Corporation, Pavel Zavalnyi, Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Energy, Michael Ziman, Head of Department of Radiation Protection and RW Management of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OESD NEA) gave speeches at the opening ceremony.

 

 

 

Oleg Kryukov, Director for Public Policy on Radioactive Waste, Spent Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear Decommissioning, of Rosatom State Corporation said: «This Forum is an effective platform for exchange of best practices in the RW management and decommissioning. Year after year the event becomes more and more extensive». Michael Ziman underscored that the issues of PW management and decommissioning became more urgent; and OESD NEA «anticipates to elaborate approaches to solve these issues jointly with the Russian experts».

 

By opening the plenary session Sergey Baranovskiy, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council of Rosatom State Corporation, told: «the exhibition and conference are a traditional platform for meetings and discussions of Russian and foreign experts of issues concerning the final stage of the life cycle of nuclear energy projects. Involvement of a large number of the Federal executive powers in target programs on radiation and nuclear safety (RNS) highlights their importance».

 

Sergey Kirienko, Chief Executive Officer of Rosatom State Corporation, told about the outcomes of implementation of the RNS program: «Everything we managed to achieve over recent years has become feasible owing to joint efforts only. After completion of the first Federal RNS Program we kick off the new one which assumes decommissioning of facilities from controlled into finally safe status followed by eventual shutting down as well as establishing full-fledged infrastructure. The second program will be effective until 2030 and split into three five-year phases».

 

At AtomEco2015 there were round-tables on the following topics: «Changes in legislation and new requirements in the field of environment protection: current issues for the nuclear industry», «Cooperation of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation with the regional authorities of local self-government and civil society», «New technologies and technical solutions in the field of RW management», «Results of international cooperation on decommissioning of Russian radioisotope thermoelectric generators» and so forth.

 

Vladimir Chudin, Equipment Director of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC, said: «Environmental safety issues are the top priority ones for us and a compulsory condition to develop nuclear technologies in territory of Turkey. Currently the system of ecological policy meeting the high standards has developed and successfully is implemented in Russia. The Exhibition and Conference AtomEco2105 is an international platform to discuss themes of interaction of the nuclear energy and environment. The representatives of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC try to partake in such events since they promote information exchange on issues important for the nuclear energy».

 

Leading experts and specialists in the field of the SNF re-processing, employees of institutes and enterprises affiliated to Rosatom SC and practically managing RW and SNF participated in the business program of AtomEco. The representatives of foreign companies from Japan, Switzerland, Slovak Republic, France, Germany, UK, Italy, Belgium and Sweden took part in the conference. At the exhibition area Russian and foreign companies displayed the state-of-the-art technologies and equipment in the field of re-processing of the spent nuclear fuel.

 

Over 600 people from 16 countries have registered to participate in AtomEco2015; dozens of Russian and foreign companies have presented their expositions. The VIII International Exhibition and Conference was held in Moscow at the World Trade Center. Rosatom State Corporation sponsored the event.
