AKKUYU NPP JSC congratulates students on the end of the first semester

 

Representatives of AKKUYU NPP JSC visited the primary school at the settlement of Büyükeceli - the nearest populated location to the construction site of Akkuyu NPP – and took part in the celebratory assembly marking the end of the first half of the 2013-2014 school year. The project company took patronage over the school in 2011 and has been actively involved in its activities.


The event, being held traditionally in the school yard, was attended by the Deputy Head of the Gülnar District Board of Education Ghazi Kyrlangych, the Director of the of Public Information Center (PIC) of Akkuyu NPP in Büyükeceli Lutfi Sarydzha, the Elementary School Principal Sadiq Gyuleryuz, teachers and students along with their parents. Speaking at the assembly, the PIC Director noted that Akkuyu NPP would actively participate in the school’s social projects. "Today the first half of one more school year ends. You have overcome one more step on your path to knowledge. The greatest successes in your life still lie before you. Try to learn more diligently in order to achieve in your life as much as possible. When watching your progress, we are confident that in the future Büyükeceli will become a large thriving town with a developed infrastructure", - said Sarydzhi. The PIC Director stressed that the settlement Büyükeceli is the future of the country, which is developing nuclear energy. He added: "From 2020 the first nuclear power plant in Turkey will start generating electricity. By the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey the amount of electricity to be annually produced by Akkuyu NPP will exceed 35 billion kWh. Keep this in mind and constantly strive to learn new knowledge. Do not waste your time in vain and never stand still. Listen to your teachers and study hard to prepare for the next semester in which I wish all of you a great success".

 

 

The Deputy Head of the District Board of Education Ghazi Kyrlangych said that the first half of the 2013-2014 school year now ends for 17 million school students throughout Turkey, 6000 of them in the Gülnar district and 274 – from the settlement of Büyükeceli. "I would like to express our gratitude to Akkuyu NPP which supports students being actively involved in their social life. I congratulate all the students who have completed their first semester today. You’ve done a good job and not only at your desk, but also in various out-of-class activities", - said Kyrlangych.


The Büyükeceli Elementary School Principal Sadiq Gyuleryuz said that celebratory assemblies at the end of each half-year also include the ceremony of granting small gifts to the school students. "At the assembly marking the end of the 2012-2013 year, we along with the Project Company awarded to excellent students bicycles. Now, regardless of success level, we are making to all boys and girls a present of tracksuits so that the students never forget about sports during their holidays", - said Gyuleryuz. The school Director thanked Akkuyu NPP for the attention they’ve paid and active participation in the educational process of the school.

The academic year of the school system of education in the Republic of Turkey is divided into two semesters. The first semester lasts from September to January and after two week vacation the second semester begins which lasts from February to June. The school in
Büyükeceli is attended by 274 students.
