Akkuyu NPP JSC took part in the biggest International Forum of the Nuclear Industry Suppliers ATOMEX-2013

 

The 5th anniversary International Forum of the Nuclear Industry Suppliers took place in Moscow. Rosatom, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, arranges this event to develop competitive environment, establish new business relations and enhance ones already existing between the customers and suppliers of equipment and services in the nuclear industry and ensure transparence of the procurement activities. The Executive Director of the Project Company Oleg Titov and the Procurement and Contract Management Director Vladimir Chudin participated in the Forum on behalf of the Akkuyu NPP JSC.

 

The businesslike agenda of the Forum included: conferences, round-tables and breakout sessions, where Russian and foreign experts discussed the key aspects of the procurement procedures, the issues of up-to-date and prime quality equipment procurement for construction and operation of the nuclear industry facilities. Rosatom State Corporation Deputy Director General Kirill Komarov at the opening ceremony stated that upward of 500 representatives of 150 companies from across the world, some of which were newcomers, informed about their participation. «ATOMEX Forum is a unique opportunity to maintain open dialog between suppliers and customers, exchange views and hear recommendations», - Komarov noted in his welcoming speech.

 

The Russian Atomic Corporation expects an «open dialog» with suppliers. The rich businesslike program has been prepared for the Forum participants, including breakout sessions, round-tables, and individual B2B meetings. At the trade show the companies from across the world demonstrated their products and companies of the nuclear industry – their procurement programs. The RF Minister on Coordination of the Open Government Activities Mikhail Abyzov spoke at a plenary session of the Forum. He emphasized in his speech, that Russian suppliers have got a unique opportunity to promote their state-of-the-art technologies and innovative solutions on the international market. «The RF Government regards the global entry of Rosatom State Corporation on the international market as a window of opportunities for many linked industries, which operate inside Russia by satisfying needs of the nuclear industry» - Abyzov said.

 

Rosatom Director General Sergey Kirienko provided some examples of successful activities due to electronic trading introduction: «The State Corporation managed to augment the number of open procurements 25-fold, from 20 billion up to 500 billion Rubles. We began with 1,000 suppliers, now we have more than 15,000, and more than 30,000 purchasing operations. We have succeeded to establish the open procurement system and to update the legal framework owing to support and coordinated activities with the Russia Government, Russia Federal Antimonopoly Service».

 

The Project Company representatives familiarized with the exposition stands of the key suppliers of the nuclear industry and answered questions of the mainstream media journalists. In the course of the Forum the Head of Akkuyu NPP JSC Moscow Representative Office Oleg Titov gave an interview to The Voice of Russia. He told about the status of the first Turkish NPP construction project in the Province of Mersin. Titov stressed that a positive decision on the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIA) was the vital phase of the project implementation in the near-term. «We will be able to proceed to activities foregoing the on-site building activities only after getting permitting documentation and licenses for construction from the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK)».

 

Titov also marked that Russia has considerably increased its development rates in the nuclear industry by winning several tenders abroad during the outgoing year. The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation will build NPP in Finland, has won the tender in Jordan and initialed the agreement with the Republic of South Africa. During his interview the Akkuyu NPP Executive Director said, that the Republic of Turkey was steadily developing its nuclear energy and launched practically from the scratch its nuclear industry. «The energy needs of the Republic grow from year to year, and the peaceful atom use will allow providing a steady economic development of the country. Turkey builds up the usage of internal energy sources pro rata reducing its energy imports» - Oleg Titov said.

 

During breakout sessions of ATOMEX-2013 Forum experts discussed interaction of the engineering companies with suppliers and manufacturers of equipment for serial projects based on the Russian WWER reactors. The following topics have been addressed: equipment delivery when building NPP under foreign projects, information technologies for the nuclear energy, perspective equipment and technologies of the atomic power engineering, quality control over delivered equipment, services for engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of NPPs.
