Delegation from Turkey visited ATOMEXPO-2012, a large international forum dedicated to nuclear power

Turkish delegation arrived at the Moscow based ATOMEXPO-2012 consisting of the Nedzhati Yamach, Director of the Department of Nuclear Power Projects of the Ministry of Power and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, and Zafer Alper, Director of the Nuclear Power Agency. Delegation was lead by Metin Kildzhi, First Deputy Minister of Power and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey. The delegation was accompanied by the representatives of the Turkish Embassy in the Russian Federation.

 

 


During the forum guests visited the exhibition, they were particularly interested in the model of the nuclear power plant, consisting of the AES-2006 power generating units with the VVER-1200 reactors, that is to be built on the  south shore of the Mediterranean Sea in the Mersin province. Alexander Superfin, Director General of AKKUYU NPP JSC, answered questions about the model of the nuclear power plant relating to the design specifics of the 3+ generation power plant and the system of deep column protection.



During the ATOMEXPO-2012 Metin Kildzhi, First Deputy Minister of Power and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, presented a report, at the round table meeting, on the topic of an integrated approach towards the development of the nuclear power, and also during the plenary session Global Atomics: One year after the Fukushima.
On the second of the form the Turkish Delegation organized a meeting with Sergey Kirienko, Director General of the Russian State Corporation Rosatom. During the closed meeting participants discussed construction stages of the nuclear power plant that is to be built in Turkey and the status of execution of works on the project. Parties noted that cooperation in the field of atomics is developing with the interest from both countries, and that the implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Turkey is running on schedule. Representatives of the SC RosAtom and the Ministry of the Turkish Republic praised the status of affairs and expressed their readiness to accelerate the execution of the project.

 

 

Before departing to Turkey Metin Kildzhin, Deputy Minister of Power and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, in his interview with the media, gave praise to the organization of the international form ATOMEXPO-2012 and thanked the executive management of AKKUYU NPP JSC for the consistent visit schedule.
