Head of the Public Information Center of Akkuyu NPP met the Chairman of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Turkey)

 

Lutfi Sarıci, Head of the Public Information Center (PIC), has met Şerafettin Aşut, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO).

 

 

 

During the meeting Lutfi Sarıci told in details about the PIC activities and informed about the implementation status of the Akkuyu NPP construction project: «This is a large-scale energy project of the Russian-Turkish cooperation in the value of 20 billion USD. The main equipment of the reactor power unit, safety systems will be manufactured in Russia. And the Turkish companies will be involved in construction and installation work totaling 8 billion USD. Industrial and commercial companies of Mersin Province have to keep track of information about the bids of the first NPP in Turkey and bring their products in line with the required standards in order to take part in implementation of the project». The PIC Head also said that participation of Turkish companies in implementation of the Akkuyu NPP project will allow them obtaining necessary experience which could be globally applied in the future at NPP construction sites. The representative of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC added that this fall the fifth group of Turkish students would go to Russia to be trained under the program of specialist preparation to work at Akkuyu NPP. «A new group of 80 people will start study Russian nuclear technologies soon. Up to 600 specialists are to be trai9ned under the Akkuyu NPP project», Lutfi Sarıci said.

 

Şerafettin Aşut, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industryб told that MTSO participated in development of the list of suppliers of the Turkish nuclear industry along with the representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) of the Republic of Turkey. He said: «The specialists of the MENR have elaborated the list, but we also took part in these activities. In other words, we also contributed to inclusion of suppliers not only from the capital of the country but from other provinces of the Anatolian region: Konya, Kocaeli, Mersin and Adana, where the metallurgy industry is well developed».
